Saint-Louis Church

A major monument of napoleon Square, the church of Saint Louis is an important example of 18th century Neoclassical architecture with a rectangular basilical type layout.

Renaissance House

Built in 1566 in the heart of the old town, it was listed as a historical monument in 1930. Permanent exhibition about the history of the town and  René Couzinet, creator of the “Arc en Ciel” aeroplane.

The Museum of La Roche-sur-Yon was created in the second half of the XIXth century, a few years after the town was founded by Napoleon 1st. Its cultural exhibition is based around three major themes:
contemporary photography, art and graphic design since the XIXth century, and The history of La Roche-sur-Yon, a new town in the XIXth century, placed in the global context of a history of new towns.

Exhibition for the summer of 2010 ( from 26th June to 5th October) : "Feuilles d'artistes", Graphic Art collections of the museum.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday : from 1 to 6 pm. Open in the morning for group bookings.

The Napoleon Trail

La Roche-sur-Yon


Discover a unique glimpse of La Roche-sur-Yon, its heritage and the more unusual sites on an trail conveniently waymarked with urban plaques and information panels. The heritage trail leads through the historic centre (pentagon and station district) and gives anoverview of the city's development from its founding in 1804 ubtil the mid 19th century.
The trail comprises three parts :
-the old town
-the Nopelonic town
- the town's expansion around the station.

It's a free, non-guided tour for the discovery of the history and heritage of the more unusual sites of the town.

Charles Payraudeau Ornithological Museum

Town Hall of La Chaize-le-Vicomte

Permanent exhibition of stuffed birds from the collection of Charles Payraudeau, French naturalist (1798 – 1865).

Opened year-round from Monday to Thursday, from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 2 to 5 pm.Only on booking during the weed-end.

In July and August, opened from Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 12.30am and from 2 to 5 pm , and Saturdays and Sundays afternoons from 2 to 5 pm.

World Record House

Aubigny

This park houses around sixty everyday objects, but on a gigantic scale! Made from wood, rushes, wicker, and chestnut wood. Craft workshops on site (woodwork, basket-making, leatherwork, and copper) to learn the basics.
